Hogan Lovells' Greg Sinfield Appointed as National Chairman of the VAT Practitioners Group
04 July 2011
LONDON, 4 July 2011 - Hogan Lovells' London tax partner Greg Sinfield has been appointed as National Chairman of the VAT Practitioners Group (VPG). He took up the role on 16 June 2011.
The VPG is an association of VAT specialists drawn from the accounting profession, the Bar, law firms, independent VAT practices as well as in-house VAT advisers from all sectors of business. The VPG has over 430 members organised into 20 chapters across the UK which meet monthly to discuss technical and practical issues relating to VAT. At a national level, the VPG considers and responds to consultations on VAT and makes representations to HMRC and government bodies on behalf of its members. The annual VPG Conference, held each June, is one of the leading VAT conferences in the UK.
"I am very pleased to have been appointed to lead the VPG at a time of great change in the world of VAT. It was fascinating to hear Werner Blockmans, head of the VAT section of DG Tax at the European Commission, at the recent VPG Conference talk about the plans for the future of VAT. The VPG is trusted and respected by both HMRC and the tax profession and is a unique position to influence the development of VAT over the next few years. As National Chairman, I look forward to contributing to the success of the VPG in the years ahead."
