Hogan Lovells opens child care facility for staff at Munich office in partnership with Wichtel Akademie

Hogan Lovells is the first major law firm in Germany to open a day care centre and kindergarten for employees' children at its Munich office in partnership with operator Wichtel Akademie. From August 2018, the new facility will take in 24 girls and boys aged up to three years in two day care groups, as well as 25 three- to six-year-olds in one kindergarten group.

The places in the bilingual centre (German/English) will be available to Hogan Lovells employees, with any remaining free places being offered by Wichtel Akademie to third parties. The centre will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

"We want to make it easy for our staff to combine family and career. Wichtel Akademie enables people to do just that – which is why it is our ideal partner. We are delighted that we can offer our staff professional child care at their workplace", said Stefan Schuppert, Office Managing Partner of Hogan Lovells in Munich.

The centre covers just under 500 square meters and has an outdoor area of 330 square meters in the inner courtyard of the complex at Karl-Scharnagl-Ring. It is located on the ground floor and has a separate entrance. Construction work ran from April to June 2018; in July work on the interior will be completed and the furniture will be delivered.

"Child care is a major concern for many people in Munich because there are still not enough places available", said Partner Christian Herweg, who planned and implemented the project with Counsel Sabrina Handke. "Thanks to this new facility, our staff can be sure of actually getting a place for their children and can have them looked after right at their workplace, saving them time and hassle", said Sabrina Handke.
