Hogan Lovells Donates Supplies to Local Elementary Schools for Fifth Consecutive Year
22 August 2013
WASHINGTON, D.C. 22 August 2013 – Hogan Lovells' Washington, D.C. office recently completed its fifth annual Backpacks for Kids drive. Through this event, 500 backpacks filled with school supplies were donated to four deserving area schools. The funds raised to purchase these items were a direct result of the generosity of its employees, combined with a matched contribution from Hogan Lovells.
Hogan Lovells employees personally delivered the backpacks — which contained many of the essential supplies students need, including notebooks, folders, scissors, crayons, pencils, erasers, and rulers — to the schools: Hendley Elementary School in Washington, D.C.; Brookland at Bunker Hill Elementary School in Washington, D.C.; William Paca Elementary School in Landover, MD; and Glassmanor Elementary School in Oxon Hill, MD.
“The students, staff, and parents of William Paca Elementary School are extremely grateful for Hogan Lovells’ generous school supply donations,” said principal Dorothy Clowers. “It pleases us greatly to know that there are individuals in our community that value the importance of education and are willing to help others.”
Good citizenship is one of Hogan Lovells’ core values. Through its Community Investment initiative, which includes a targeted focus on education and raising the achievements of local school children, it is able to build long-standing relationships with local schools and provide supplies and materials to those students who need them most.
