Hogan Lovells' Dean Hansell Appointed to Los Angeles Sheriffs' Citizen's Oversight Commission Working Group

LOS ANGELES, CA, 7 January 2014 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Los Angeles litigation partner Dean Hansell was appointed to serve as a member of the Working Group tasked with developing the Citizen’s Oversight Commission on the Sheriff’s Department. Appointed by L.A. County Supervisor Sheila J. Kuehl, Hansell will act as the representative from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Third District.
The Working Group was established to develop a comprehensive proposal on the powers, membership, and authority for the first Citizen’s Oversight Board over the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells Hansell served as Police Commissioner of Los Angeles for more than four years. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Police Foundation of Los Angeles and was President and Commissioner of the Fire and Police Pension Board for the City of Los Angeles.
As a partner at Hogan Lovells, Hansell regularly represents companies in complex business litigation and class actions, and matters involving federal, state, and local government agencies. He is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer with significant experience in antitrust, environmental, privacy, and labor and employment issues.
