Hogan Lovells Cricket Team to Play at Lord's in the Save The Children Last Man Stands Corporate League Final

02/09/2010

LONDON, 2 September 2010 - Hogan Lovells cricket team will play at Lord's, the home of cricket, in the final of the Save The Children Last Man Stands Corporate League on Friday 10 September. This is the first year the final is to be played at the celebrated cricket venue.

Team captain Oliver Humphrey is confident that it will be a fairly contested match:

"There is a lot of pride at stake in this game - in 2008 we won the competition, and in 2009 we reached the semi finals, so we want to get our names back on the trophy. We’re certain it’ll be a fair contest and we’d bet a lot of money there won't be quite as many no balls as there were at Lord’s last week!".

The league comprises 24 teams of law firms, banks, barristers' chambers, surveyors and other corporate firms. This is the second time in three years the Hogan Lovells (formerly Lovells) team has made the final, fighting off competition from HSBC Private Bank, Serle Court, Linklaters, E-Zat Consulting and UBS en route.

Hogan Lovells will play Urban Projects London Limited in the final. The Hogan Lovells team has a record of five wins in six games this season and if they win the corporate league, will be just one game away from playing at the inaugural Last Man Stands World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.

Play will commence at 11am on the nursery ground.
