New York, 28 February 2022 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Adrienne Ellman has joined the firm’s Corporate & Finance practice group as a partner in its Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Private Equity practices, based in New York. Recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” by The Legal 500 in M&A nationwide, Ellman will further strengthen the firm’s transactional capabilities, particularly in the life sciences and health care sector. Ellman is the fifth corporate partner to join the firm’s New York office this month. Her arrival follows those of M&A partners Luke Iovine, Peter Cohen-Millstein, Megan Ridley-Kaye, and investment funds partner Parik Dasgupta, each of whom joined the firm in February.

Global Corporate & Finance Practice Group Leader James Doyle commented: “Over the past few years, our global M&A practice has grown significantly in stature and is now recognized by Chambers USA as an ‘elite firm’ in transactional work. We are delighted to have Adrienne join our growing M&A and Private Equity team. Adrienne’s credentials are impressive and will further bolster our transactional capabilities in New York.”

Ellman joins the firm from Foley Hoag, where she co-chaired the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Transactions group and served as co-lead partner of the New York office and as a member of the diversity committee. She represents corporate and financial buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, including leveraged buyouts, tender offers, going private transactions, stock-for-stock acquisitions, negotiated and unsolicited acquisitions, carve out and spin-off transactions, and minority and growth investments. Her practice spans many different industries, with a particular emphasis on life sciences, health care, and technology and the overlap between those industries. Ellman also has experience representing emerging growth companies and their investors in general corporate, financing and investment matters.

Bill Curtin, who serves as Hogan Lovells’ Global Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, added: “Our M&A practice had a banner year in 2021, assisting clients on important transactions around the world, including in the life sciences and health care sector where we advised AmerisourceBergen on its US$6.47 billion acquisition of the Alliance Healthcare wholesale pharmaceutical distribution business in Europe from Walgreens Boots Alliance, and PerkinElmer, Inc. on its acquisition of Oxford Immunotec Global PLC, among other transactions in this sector. We are thrilled to have Adrienne join our M&A team in New York, as her considerable skills in the transactional space will particularly complement our top-ranked Life Sciences practice.”

Ellman remarked: “I am thrilled to be joining Hogan Lovells as the firm continues to grow its already impressive M&A practice. I am excited to leverage the firm’s deep and talented life sciences and health care teams, including its preeminent regulatory practices, to complement my transactional focus in those spaces. I think the firm will provide me with the perfect platform to grow and expand my practice in the U.S. and beyond.”

In 2021, Hogan Lovells was ranked by Chambers USA as an “Elite” firm for Corporate and M&A work. The firm’s global M&A practice is comprised of more than 500 lawyers in more than 45 offices across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Over the past four years, Hogan Lovells has advised on more than US$650bn in M&A transactions worldwide, representing entities, principals, and financial advisors in almost 900 public and private transactions.
