Hogan Lovells Boosts Middle East Practice With Three new Partners

12 November 2015

12 November 2015 - Hogan Lovells is expanding its Dubai office with the addition of partners Charles Fuller, Andrew Tarbuck and Anthony Pallett.  They are joining from Latham & Watkins in Dubai. Charles and Andrew join the Corporate practice while Anthony joins the firm's Finance practice.

The move further deepens Hogan Lovells' capabilities in the Middle East. Earlier this year Sohail Barkatali to join its Dubai finance practice from Chadbourne & Parke.  The office works with clients across the region as well as those in North Africa and other surrounding markets.

Charles covers transactions across M&A, venture capital and private equity where his client base is a mix of regional and international private equity and sovereign wealth funds doing deals in Europe, the U.S. and the Middle East. His recent deal experience includes advising Dubai based Olive Group on its merger with Constellis Group and representing Spectrum Equity on its further investment in Trintech alongside Vista Equity Partners.

Andrew specialises in all aspects of capital markets transactions, particularly IPOs, other equity fund raisings, debt securities and Sukuk financings.  He advises global and regional issuers, underwriters and financial advisers. His client work includes advising The National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia on its IPO and listing of Tadawul, which was the second largest IPO in 2014 and the largest IPO ever in the Middle East (US$6bn).

Anthony has a range of banking and finance experience including real estate, infrastructure, and acquisition finance, hybrid corporate loans and structured finance. Banking clients include Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC and Emirates NBD and he has worked on financings for major regional real estate developers such as Majid Al Futtaim Group and Emaar Properties PJSC.  He recently advised Skai Holdings on the financing of the Viceroy Dubai Palm Jumeirah.

Rahail Ali, Office Managing Partner, Dubai, Hogan Lovells commented:

"The last decade has seen tumultuous changes for the MENA region, affecting all aspects of business life. Clients want to work with excellent lawyers who have hands on experience dealing with the fluid legal and social environment and lawyers who know what it means for them. This team has that experience.”

David Gibbons, head of Hogan Lovells' global corporate practice said:

Hogan Lovells has been established in the Middle East for many years.  The addition of Charles, Andrew and Anthony significantly enhances our capabilities in Dubai and illustrates our on-going commitment to the region. This team significantly strengthens our Corporate and Finance capabilities and expands what we are able to deliver for our clients in the region.  We are thrilled that they are joining us."

Sharon Lewis, head of Hogan Lovells' global finance practice added:

"We are delighted to welcome Charles, Andrew and Anthony. They are a fantastic team and Anthony, with his international banking experience, is very complementary to our existing Islamic finance team. The arrival of this team comes close on the heels of our hire of Sohail Barkatli, and demonstrates our commitment to the region and our finance practice more generally."
