Hogan Lovells advises ESTEVE on the acquisition of Riemser

Press releases | 09 January 2020

Led by partners Daniel Dehghanian and Jörg Schickert international law firm Hogan Lovells has advised Barcelona-based, global pharmaceutical company ESTEVE on its acquisition of German pharmaceutical company Riemser Pharma GmbH from private investment house Ardian.

The transaction will provide ESTEVE with greater pharmaceutical presence in Europe’s main markets, especially in the fast growing sector of hospital markets and will accelerate its transformation into a specialty pharma company.

Headquartered in Berlin, Riemser is a provider of specialty pharmaceuticals for therapeutic niches in the field of human medicine with own subsidiaries and operations in Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Spain, and is present in nearly 50 countries through alliances with third parties.

Hogan Lovells advised ESTEVE on all legal matters in connection with the transaction process, including a comprehensive due diligence review as well as the preparation and negotiation of all transaction agreements.

"We are very happy we could advise ESTEVE with a large cross-border team on this strategic transaction which at the same time marks ESTEVE's first acquisition in Germany ", said Daniel Dehghanian.

Jörg Schickert added: "This project was a great opportunity for us to once again showcase our strong and combined transactional and life sciences expertise – in Germany as well as other key EU jurisdictions."
