Hogan Lovells Becomes SPRING’s First Corporate Sponsor

SPRING has partnered with top-tier global law firm Hogan Lovells, the accelerator’s first corporate sponsor. The firm will provide access to legal advice and support on the ground in East Africa, as well as pro bono advice and mentorship through its global network of specialist lawyers to SPRING’s 18 business entrepreneurs across Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

SPRING began in May with Selection Camp for 50 shortlisted entrepreneurs from Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda who were invited to pitch to the SPRING judging panel. Following deliberation, the final 18 businesses were selected and invited to join the 2015 SPRING cohort.

SPRING was launched by Nike Foundation, DFID and USAID based on research that shows that girls, when economically empowered, have a unique ability to transform lives and help end the cycle of intergenerational poverty. An estimated 250 million adolescent girls live in poverty worldwide, unable to build assets or safely raise the income needed for a more prosperous life. SPRING identifies and supports ventures that can bring life-enhancing products and services to this huge population.
