Hogan Lovells Augments Top-Tier Insolvency and Dispute Resolution Practice in Asia with a Further Partner Hire in Singapore

16 June 2014

SINGAPORE, 16 June 2014 - Hogan Lovells continues to build its practice in Southeast Asia with the hire of Shaun Langhorne, who will join the firm as a dispute resolution partner in the firm's Singapore office on Monday 11 August.

Shaun joins the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) where he built a successful contentious insolvency and restructuring practice acting on numerous headline matters across Southeast Asia.  Shaun's experience in several key areas including contentious insolvency, financial disputes, shareholder disputes and contentious advisory work, along with his strong track record in key jurisdictions such as Indonesia, make him an ideal strategic fit for the firm's growing platform across the region.

Shaun will form an integral part of Hogan Lovells’ award winning top tier insolvency and restructuring practice, working closely with Hong Kong partner Neil McDonald to provide dedicated coverage in South East Asia. With a strong dispute resolution background, Shaun also adds considerable strength and flexibility to Hogan Lovells’ top-tier dispute resolution and arbitration team.

Commenting on Shaun's arrival, Michael Davison, global co-head of Hogan Lovells' litigation and arbitration practice said:

"Hogan Lovells has one of the strongest arbitration, dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring practices in the region. Shaun's addition to the team in Singapore further cements that reputation whilst also enhancing our top-tier offering, particularly to our global and regional key clients who are active across Southeast Asia."

Shaun added:

"The popularity of South East Asia as an investment destination, combined with a trend of increased use of domestic courts and insolvency laws to resolve debt issues and to effect large scale restructurings, creates a demand for restructuring and insolvency expertise across the region.  Hogan Lovells, with its extremely strong institutional client base, award winning pan-Asian restructuring and insolvency practice and leading contentious practice, presents the perfect platform to help clients resolve issues arising across the region.  I am looking forward to joining the partnership at such an exciting time and working in tandem with some of the best practitioners in the market to further establish the position of Hogan Lovells' contentious practice as the undisputed leader across Southeast Asia.”

Hogan Lovells' litigation and arbitration practice in Asia comprises over 12 partners across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.  The practice has been consistently recognised as a leading practice in all legal directories.  The Singapore Litigation and Arbitration team was ranked top-tier in the recently released edition of Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2014.
