Hogan Lovells appoints new Birmingham head

Press releases | 08 January 2020

London, 8 January 2020 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells has appointed Real Estate partner Gill McGreevy as Head of its Birmingham office. She assumed the role on 1 January 2020, succeeding Michael Gallimore at the end of his three year term, and will continue with her practice.

Gill joined Hogan Lovells 20 years ago after training at DJ Freeman. Gill's practice spans all aspects of commercial real estate, including development and regeneration projects, retail and leisure asset management and strategy and property investment. She also has a focus on real estate aspects of borrower-side financing and renewable energy schemes.

Client work includes advising Shaftesbury on investment, asset management and real estate aspects of financing key "villages" in London's West End; Kings Cross Central Limited Partnership on its 67-acre, £2bn regeneration of King's Cross; and Veolia/Covanta in relation to The Rookery Energy from Waste project in Bedfordshire.

Alongside her commercial real estate practice, Gill has been co-chair of the firm's Working Families Network and of our global and UK matched-giving programme, 'Touch'.

The firm's Birmingham office has gone from strength to strength. Since opening five years ago the office has grown from a team of six lawyers to an office with 42 lawyers and 28 people in Business Services. The Birmingham office is also home to our UK Legal Delivery Centre, led by Rachel Dabydoyal. The lawyers work on some of the firm's most complex client work, carry out document review and due diligence projects, and also provide an outsourcing resource for financial institutions.

Susan Bright, Regional Managing Partner for the UK & Africa, said: "I would like to thank Michael for his exemplary leadership of our Birmingham office over the last three years and congratulate Gill on her new role."

Gill McGreevy added: "I am delighted to be taking on this role. The teams in Birmingham form a critical part of our UK and wider client offering and I am looking forward to leading it during the next phase of its development".
