Silicon Valley, 13 January 2020 – International law firm Hogan Lovells advised Synopsys, Inc. on the acquisition of IP assets from eSilicon Corporation, a provider of FinFET ASICs, market-specific IP platforms and advanced 2.5D packaging solutions. The transaction closed today.

This acquisition expands Synopsys’s DesignWare® Embedded Memory IP portfolio with TCAMs and multi-port memory compilers, as well as its Interface IP portfolio with High-Bandwidth Interface (HBI) IP. It also adds a team of experienced R&D engineers to further scale Synopsys’s IP development in advanced process technologies in markets such as AI and cloud.

The remaining assets of eSilicon, including its ASIC business and 56/112G SerDes design and related IP, were acquired by Inphi Corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal is the third major transaction Hogan Lovells has advised Synopsys on in January. Last week, the firm advised Synopsys on its acquisition of Tinfoil Security and the acquisition of certain IP assets of Invecas, Inc.

The Hogan Lovells team was led by Silicon Valley Office Managing Partner Nate Gallon, and included partner John Brockland, senior associates Dylan Hanson and Max Scott, and associate Nick Eckstein.
