Hogan Lovells Advises Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp on $600M Credit Facility
24 October 2014
LOS ANGELES, 24 October 2014 – Hogan Lovells advised EuropaCorp, the French mini-major co-founded by Luc Besson, on its US$600 million credit facilities.
EuropaCorp announced it has arranged for US$600 million in financing, in large part to support plans for a larger slate of English-language movies. The new lines of credit include a US$400 million senior line of credit with a US$150 million accordion to allow for future expansion and a US$50 million second lien credit facility. At closing, the facilities triple EuropaCorp’s financing ability.
In addition to financing its English-language movies, EuropaCorp will use the credit facility to fund marketing and distribution costs related to new productions that will be distributed in the United States through Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution, EuropaCorp’s joint venture with Relativity Media, which was formed this year.
Los Angeles partner Sheri Jeffrey led the Hogan Lovells team that included partner Mark Weinstein (New York), partner Russell DaSilva (New York), senior attorney Paul Barkes (Los Angles), and partner Deborah Staudinger (Washington). Jeantet Associés was co-counsel to EuropaCorp, led by Paris-based partner Arnaud de Senilhes.
