Hogan Lovells Advises London Borough of Havering on new Leisure Scheme in Romford

01 June 2012

LONDON, 1 June 2012 - Hogan Lovells has advised the London Borough of Havering on a land swap with Morrisons that will facilitate the development by the Council of a new public leisure scheme in Romford, to include a new competition-sized ice rink, swimming pools and ancillary facilities.

In exchange, Morrisons will receive a site from the Council for the development of a 75,000 sq ft Morrisons foodstore and around 65 residential homes.

The land swap is subject to various conditions.

Dion Panambalana, a partner in Hogan Lovells' real estate team, said:

"This land swap is a landmark deal for Romford that should lead to the creation of first class new leisure facilities in the town and a new Morrisons next to the Hospital.  We are very pleased to act for the Council and we look forward to continuing to advise them on the development as it progresses."
