Hogan Lovells advises EDF on the sale of BERT

Hogan Lovells advises E.D.F. International (EDF) on the sale of its majority stake in Hungary-based Budapesti Erőmű Zrt. (BERT) to EP Hungary a.s., a subsidiary of Energy a.s., which therefore acquires more than 95% of the shares of BERT.

BERT owns three gas-fired cogeneration plants (combined heat & power), which meet almost 60% of the demand for heat in Budapest and generate approximately 3% of Hungarian electricity.

The Hogan Lovells team acting for EDF was made up of Xavier Doumen (partner) and Sophie Thomazi (Counsel) in Paris and Hannah Logan (associate) in the London office. Hogan Lovells was assisted by the Hungarian law firm Lakatos, Köves és Tarsai Ügyvédi Iroda (Peter Lakatos and Fazakas Balázs).

EP Energy a.s. was represented by Wolf Theiss (László Keneyeres).
