Hogan Lovells Advises Cineworld in Multi-Screen Cinema Deal for Wembley City

28 May 2010

LONDON, 28 May 2010 - Hogan Lovells advised CineUK on an agreement to take a 25 year lease contract from Quintain for a multi-screen cinema at Quintain’s Wembley City regeneration project.

The deal which provides for a nine-screen cinema, with seating for 1800 people, will be built next to Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena, forming a central part of the 280,000 sq ft leisure and retail hub.

Construction is expected to begin next year and the cinema complex is scheduled to open in 2013.

Partner Gill McGreevy acted for CineUK in the deal, assisted by senior associate Laura Oliver and associate Sarah Brown.

The deal serves as a positive indicator that commercial development is moving forward again since the credit crunch, and Hogan Lovells is pleased to be involved in the renewed growth in this area. Hogan Lovells have also been advising Cineworld in a number of other development deals including the multi-screen cinema at the old Quinn Radiator development scheme in Leigh, Manchester, which received a resolution to grant planning permission earlier this month and is expected to open next year.

Steve Wiener, Chief Executive Officer of Cineworld, said:

"We are delighted to have been chosen by Quintain to be the cinema operator for Wembley City. Wembley is a vibrant development and the Cineworld cinema will be the first in the area for thirty years."
