Breaking Barriers Celebrates 3rd Anniversary
20 April 2012
HONG KONG, 20 April 2012 – Breaking Barriers celebrated its third anniversary in Hong Kong with a fundraising event for Mother's Heart of Cambodia.
Over 100 guests attended the charity cocktail party held at KEE Club in Hong Kong, which featured a presentation from Katrina Gliddon, director of Mother's Heart and a live hair-styling performance from Asia's best-known style maestro, Kim Robinson. Over HK$70,000 was raised through a silent auction of artwork and other items donated by Kim Robinson and other corporate patrons.
Mother's Heart responds to the lack of choices for women and girls facing unplanned pregnancies in Cambodia where no pregnancy counselling or post abortion counselling services are available. Mother's Heart provides much needed counselling, accommodation, healthcare, education and fostering and adoption alternatives to future mothers in Cambodia.
Commenting on the event Katrina Gliddon said:
"I would like to thank Hogan Lovells, Breaking Barriers, Kim Robinson and all the wonderful people who donated items for the silent Auction for the evening of the 17 April, which was dedicated to help raise funds for Mother's Heart work in Cambodia. We were very overwhelmed at the response and generosity of the people that attended the night."
Gabriela Kennedy, Chair of Breaking Barriers, added:
"We are very pleased to be able to support Mother's Heart in this way. Their work is incredibly important and aligns with Breaking Barriers' commitment to support charities focusing on women's issues in Asia.
The success of the evening was attributable to our supporters and donors including Kim Robinson, The KEE Club, Halo Inspirations Limited, Karin Weber Gallery, MISCHA, Platinum Heart, Tabla and Virgile Simon Bertrand. We thank them for their tremendous generosity."
