Senior associate Alex Bowerman, a member of the Hogan Lovells Philadelphia Litigation practice, has been named a Legal Intelligencer Lawyer on the Fast Track.

Alex is a true triple-threat litigator, equally comfortable proving a client’s case in a jury trial, briefing it on appeal, and finding the best path to resolve it out of court. With a particular affinity for matters involving disputes in multiple venues and other procedural or jurisdictional complexities, he works tirelessly to crack the core issue of a case and then craft a winning strategy that works with a client’s business objectives. Alex also maintains an active pro bono and public interest practice, having advised clients on cases involving voting rights, immigration, property rights, and constitutional law. He represented the plaintiffs in Hawaii v. Trump and City of Philadelphia v. Attorney General of the United States, and currently represents the petitioners in Crawford v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a constitutional challenge to Pennsylvania statutes that pre-empt local laws aimed at reducing gun violence.

His work highlights include:

  • Represented Globus Medical in the settlement of a US$80 million claim following eight years of litigation over an alleged breach of contract.
  • Represented manufacturer before the Eighth Circuit and Supreme Court in successful conclusion of 20-year trademark infringement defense.
  • Representing a French insurer in multi-defendant environmental coverage dispute involving the alleged loss of billions of dollars over several decades.
