Nathaniel S. Boyer
Nate Boyer navigates clients through all legal issues arising from the written or spoken word. This includes defamation, privacy, copyright, and trademark issues. Nate works with clients both as a trusted advisor and as counsel of record in litigation, up-and-down various state and federal court systems. On numerous occasions, he has successfully repelled efforts by litigants and investigators to pry into newsgathering information and materials held by reporters and news organizations.
Nate leverages his experience as a media litigator into other areas of practice — and vice versa. He has handled claims of employment discrimination, breach of contract, antitrust violations, and violations of motor vehicle franchise laws. Nate also has experience representing clients in connection with civil and criminal government investigations concerning alleged cartel activity, anti-money laundering violations, and wire and mail fraud.
Nate was heralded early in his career as a successful litigator when, having been a member of the bar for less than 10 months, he briefed, argued, and won a pro bono criminal appeal in New York state's highest court. The client's conviction was reversed, and his sentenced imprisonment term was reduced by 25 years.
