Soumitro advises a wide range of clients, including private equity sponsors, corporates, banks and investment funds on all aspects of corporate and finance transactions.

He is an English and India-qualified highly experienced international banking and finance lawyer. In a career spanning over a decade, he has worked in London, Singapore, and Mumbai and is able to offer a truly international perspective on transactions. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, he worked for a number of years at a magic circle law firm in London in the corporate and sponsor-backed finance practice.

Soumitro is particularly strong on highly complex banking and finance matters, including leverage and acquisition financings, fund-level financings, equity-linked financings and other forms of structured lending. He has worked on some of the most high-profile European and Asian financings involving senior, TLA/TLB, second lien, mezzanine, PIK, and unitranche/super-senior structures. He also has in-depth knowledge of fund financing matters, routinely acting for both sponsor clients as well as financiers on subscription line financings, NAVs, GP financings, management company financings and hybrids. In the last two years, he has advised on funds finance matters exceeding US$6 billion in value.

Soumitro spearheads the Hogan Lovells India desk and advises international clients on India-related opportunities and Indian clients on their offshore matters. He frequently travels to India on business-related matters and has excellent contacts in the Indian business and legal community.

Soumitro does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Clients describe him as energetic, solution-focussed, knowledgeable and user-friendly.
