Michele McAvoy has considerable experience representing financial institutions in litigation. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells in 2013 as an attorney supervisor, Michele worked as an in-house litigation consultant for a national bank managing nationwide litigation pertaining to mortgage origination, servicing, and foreclosures.
In this role Michele supervised a substantial nationwide docket of litigated matters and advised the bank at all stages of litigation and foreclosure including, pleadings, emergency motions, discovery, foreclosure sales, sale rescissions, evictions, and preservation of assets.
From her in-house experience, Michele brings particular business understanding when driving decisions in litigation. As such, she has considerable experience working directly with senior management within financial institutions and varying lines of business to harmonize legal results and business initiatives to avoid risk of both financial and legal exposure that could affect the industry as a whole.
Michele joined Hogan Lovells as a supervisor in the Consumer Finance group. In this role, she supervised attorneys on handling litigation for financial institutions and served as direct liaison with bank leads to ensure clear communication between the Consumer Finance group and the client on litigated files.
Michele is currently the Portfolio Manager for a large portfolio of litigation for a national bank. In this role, she marries her extensive litigation experience, business acumen, and legal project management skills to provide efficient yet quality legal work to her clients.
Michele has practiced as a litigator since graduating at the top of her class from law school in 2000.
