Mac Macmillan worked as a software developer before becoming a solicitor. She now concentrates on all aspects of IT law with a particular focus on data protection and the provision of IT related services. In addition to UK-focused data protection advice on day-to-day compliance issues such as customer-facing privacy policies, managing data breaches and cross-border data transfers, she has extensive experience managing multi-jurisdictional compliance projects and negotiating large services contracts.

Representative experience

Advising a major UK bank on an agreement to provide its customers with targeted discounts and incentives based on analysis of customer spending patterns.

Advising a life pensions and asset management group on a combined outsourcing of fund administration and custody services, involving both first and second generation outsourcings.

Advising on notification obligations in respect of a data breach involving data from 20 jurisdictions.

Advising on a framework agreement for an international outsourcing of SAP development and maintenance and advising on subsequent call-offs under that framework.

Advising a U.S. healthcare services provider on information governance in the UK and requirements around retention of medical records.

Advising an on-line retailer about cross-marketing to customers of different entities within its group.
