M. Mendel Trapedo
Having practiced on both the east and west coasts of the U.S., as well as in Canada, Mendel Trapedo brings a broad range of experience to the Real Estate Practice Group. Based out of the New York office, Mendel represents a wide variety of real estate investors, owners, borrowers, developers, landlords, and tenants, which includes REITs, insurance companies, overseas investment funds, the owner of a NBA team, and other equity investors.
Mendel grew up in South Africa, where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce and Law degrees. He also received a Master of Laws from the University of Southern California, where he graduated at the top of his class. Mendel started off his legal career at a boutique tax firm in Beverly Hills, California before joining an international law firm, where he concentrated on real estate matters.
Mendel appreciates that business considerations have to lead the legal process. He takes the time to understand his clients' business needs and objectives, and negotiates deals and drafts the related documents to meet these goals. He also uses these skills in assisting the firm's M&A and corporate teams in a diverse spectrum of transactions.
Mendel’s South African DNA has forced him, for better or worse, to be an avid sports fan and he brings the same passion to his work and clients.
