Leopold Borst advises German and international clients on product liability, product safety, and product compliance issues with a particular focus on the automotive, electronics, aviation and consumer goods industry.
Leopold supports clients in the worldwide coordination of complex product safety and product compliance cases across various jurisdictions. In doing so, he is particularly experienced with European and German market entry and safety requirements for products. Leopold's practice includes advising companies on product liability issues. He has experience in identifying product liability risks and represents companies with in and out-of-court product liability claims.
Technology is influencing all areas of law, including both product liability litigation as well as product safety and product compliance matters. Leopold works with clients to help them understand their shifting risk landscape, as technology disrupts their industries, and helps them to ensure they're maximizing the use of technology to mitigate those risks through respective compliance programs or the use of AI in litigation.
During his legal clerkship, Leopold worked for the German Federal Ministry of Health as well as for our offices in Washington, D.C. and Munich. Moreover, before joining Hogan Lovells, in addition to his legal degree, Leopold obtained a diploma in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich. This allows him to even better handle our clients' challenges, particularly by working hand-in-hand with engineers and technical experts.
