Laura Verlangieri has established a diverse footprint in the Brazilian and Latin American markets, having represented clients on internal investigations, and compliance, corporate and finance matters.
Laura represents international clients on cases involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), compliance, and international cartel issues and has given presentations on compliance and FCPA investigations in Brazil. She has also represented international and multi-national financial institutions and project sponsors in a range of cross-border projects and investment transactions, including power plant projects, infrastructure projects, drilling vessels, and alternative and acquisition financings.
Laura has spent her career at major international firms headquartered in the United States, first in New York and then in Washington, D.C. Recently, Laura has been seconded to Hogan Lovells' Rio de Janeiro office to connect directly with her Brazilian and Latin American clients. While attending law school, she worked as a law clerk in the investigation and sanctions unit of the World Bank.
Laura received her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia. She is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and proficient in Italian.
