Katharine Howe

Katharine advises trustees and employers of occupational pension schemes, with a particular interest in complex projects such as pension scheme mergers and innovative funding solutions.

Katharine enjoys the tax and finance aspects of pension work and her mathematical background lends itself to these areas. She also has experience advising on equalisation, moral hazard and excepted group life assurance schemes. Katharine prides herself on her logical and pragmatic approach.


Representative experience

Advising Vodafone Group Plc on its integration of the Cable & Wireless Worldwide pension schemes into its group, including advising on closure to future accrual and a pension scheme merger.

Advising a large publishing company on the establishment of an asset-backed funding arrangement, the pensions aspects of a joint venture and a pensioner buy-in.

Advising the trustees of a major energy company's pension schemes on an innovative funding arrangement involving a charged escrow account held by an SPV.

Advising the trustees of a number of pension schemes on automatic enrolment and establishing PPF contingent assets.

Advising buyers, sellers and JV partners on the pensions aspect of corporate transactions.
