Jonas Poell focuses his practice on commercial and investment treaty arbitration. 

He has experience in international arbitrations under various rules, including the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, and DIS Rules. He has further represented clients before EU and national courts in relation to arbitration and investment protection and has experience in business and human rights.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Jonas practised for several years at international law firms in Paris, Brussels, and Washington D.C., focusing on international arbitration, public international law and EU law. His experience further includes EU competition and State aid law.

He is a lecturer at the University of Munich, where he teaches public international law. Jonas has further worked on several pro bono projects for human rights organisations and in the area of public international law.

Representing Irish investors in an ICSID arbitration against the Federal Republic of Germany under the Energy Charter Treaty.

Advising a state-owned entity of an Eastern European state on potential investment arbitration claims relating to the development of a commercial centre.

Representing a multinational company in an LCIA arbitration in relation to mining rights.

Representing a European company in an ICC arbitration against its U.S. supplier in relation to the delivery of defective components.

Representing a multinational company in an ICC arbitration against its U.S. supplier in relation to claims under a strategic supplier agreement.

Representing clients in anti-arbitration proceedings under Section 1032(2) of the German Code of Civil Procedure.

Representing investors in an ICSID arbitration and before the General Court of the EU with regard to investments in a European State.*

Representing an Eastern European state in an UNCITRAL arbitration against a state-owned gas company.*

Representing a European life sciences company in a DIS arbitration under a Share Purchase Agreement.*

Representing a group of multinational companies with regard to the enforcement and recognition of arbitral awards against an Eastern European State in Germany.*
