Joaquin Ruiz Echauri
Joaquin Echauri, the head of the Spanish Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group, and the Product Litigation and Compliance Practice Group, in the Madrid office deals with Iberian and Latin American insurance and reinsurance, payment services, and product liability matters, in close cooperation with other offices. Joaquin offers guidance on corporate, regulatory, and contentious issues to clients in the insurance and reinsurance industry, and other financial institutions. This includes mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations, joint ventures, and authorisations. On the advisory and regulatory field, he counsels on policy drafting, contract interpretation, arrangements for the distribution of insurance, and financial products, intermediary agreements, regulatory advice, assistance in social benefits and pension's law, and payment services and approvals.
On contentious matters, his work covers losses and claims connected to liability and financial lines matters, with an emphasis on PI, E&O D&O, and employers’ liability. In the area of product liability, his focus is on mass torts and personal damages, especially life sciences and consumer goods, as well as regulatory and criminal investigations with regard to product issues.
He is a Professor of Private Law in the University Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), and a regular speaker on insurance and reinsurance and product liability forums.
