Jana Gretschel mainly works on matters relating to the energy sector-specific public law, in particular procurement law as well as construction law. She also focuses on environmental law.

Jana studied law at the University of Freiburg and, in the course of an Erasmus-study from September 2007 to June 2008, at the Università degli Studi di Firenze in Florence, Italy. From February 2012 to December 2012, she successfully completed her LL.M at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. During a five-month secondment with a client, Jana gained experience in the legal department of a major municipal utility company.

Representative experience

Advising smartOPTIMO on procurement law and municipal commercial law in connection with issues regarding the realignment of metering and grid operations (Smart Metering).

Assessing issues of municipal commercial law, in particular with regard to the principle of local provision, for Duisburger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft.

Constitutional law advice for the Ministry of the Environment of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) regarding the State Hunting Act.

Advising an international mail-order company on compliance questions in the public sector (Chill Chain).

Advising Autobahn Tank & Rast GmbH on procurement and antitrust law issues relating to the awarding of concessions for the operation of motorway service areas.

Advising EDF on the acquisition of the German sites of a French energy group (planning, erection and maintenance of nuclear powerstations and fuel element production).
