Jakub Baczuk joined the Intellectual Property, Media, and Technology team at the Hogan Lovells Warsaw Office in 2010. He focuses on matters concerning privacy and data protection. He also advises on matters related to IT and IP law, unfair competition, copyrights, and civil and commercial law contracts.

Jakub Baczuk's professional experience includes a wide range of matters related to personal data protection including representing clients in proceedings before the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, advising on GDPR implementation, international data transfers, and various personal data protection issues in regulated sectors, e.g. insurance, bank, telecom, and the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, covering professional secrecy obligations and the processing of personal data within anti-money laundering and terrorist financing procedures.

As an IP-lawyer he has drafted and opined many IP transfer and licensing agreements and has been involved in complex e-commerce and IT law projects. He has represented clients in trademark disputes before the Polish Patent Office and Polish administrative courts. Jakub has also worked pro bono helping foundations and charities with their legal issues, as well as teaching the basics of law to secondary school students.

Jakub is a member of the Bar Association in Warsaw.

Advising various insurance companies and banks on M&A implications for personal data protection as well as for insurance and banking secrecy.

Advising various companies with regard to issues related to anti-spam regulations and data privacy in connection to the planned direct marketing campaign.

Advising a leading global telecommunications company on the acquisition of a Polish telecommunications company, in particular on regulatory matters as well as the negotiation of contracts with suppliers of telecommunication services.

Advising and assisting a number of companies regarding transactions concerning the purchasing or selling of real properties, in particular advising within the scope of copyright issues.

Advising leading global software producers on issues related to software licences, including the localising of licence agreements and the drawing up and negotiating of agreements with clients.
