Oliver Irons

Oliver joined Hogan Lovells in July 2016 as a senior associate in our Commercial and Retail Banking team. He advises clients in the financial, technology and commercial sectors on a broad range of regulatory matters with a particular focus on consumer credit and payments regulation.

Oliver regularly advises clients on payment services and electronic money initiatives and has worked extensively on anti money laundering regulation and procedures especially in relation to electronic/distance compliance. His recent consumer finance experience has included advising peer to peer lending platforms and assisting clients with the FCA consumer credit authorisation process.

As well as his experience in private practice, Oliver has previously spent time on secondment with a leading aircraft manufacturer, a large telecoms company and a leading multinational bank where he provided financial regulatory advice to the bank’s commodity futures team.

Advising clients on passporting issues and establishing FCA authorised firms in the UK, including the preparation of compliance documentation.

Advising a telecoms client and a UK high street chain on the development and implementation of electronic and e-wallet products.

Multi-jurisdictional advice on the application of EU anti-money laundering provisions.

Advising on the introduction of innovative mobile payment solutions in the UK by both start-up companies and established banks.
