Focusing on European and German competition law, his main areas of practice encompass anticompetitive practices (cartels, vertical restraints, and abuse of dominant position) and merger control issues as well as State aid and procurement law. He practices in German and English, and speaks French.

Prior to joining the firm, Philipp Heuser worked as an associate in competition law departments of two major international law firms in Brussels for several years. Prior to his qualification, he completed internships at a German law firm in Brussels, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin and Bonn, and the German-French Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Paris.

Advising BASF on multi-jurisdictional merger control proceedings in relation to the combination of its paper and water chemicals business with Solenis.

Advising a global specialty pharmaceutical company on multi-jurisdictional merger control proceedings in relation to the acquisition of certain drugs.

Advising on competition law aspects regarding joint tendering of competitors in the European defense sector.

Advising a global supplier of labels on merger control aspects regarding the sale of its labels division for approximately € 1.15 billion.

Advising a client with regard to the antitrust investigation by the European Commission into manufacturers of refrigerants used in car air conditioning.

Advising on a multi-jurisdictional internal audit of an international manufacturer of food products, including the wholesale- and retail-level of distribution.

Advising a leading German car manufacturer on the antitrust and merger control aspects with regard to the envisaged acquisition of a car sharing joint venture.

Advising on the acquisition of a leading cash transport company by its competitor, resulting in an unconditional phase-2-clearance by the Federal Cartel Office.
