Professor Seagull Haiyan Song has decades of experience sharing her comprehensive knowledge of intellectual property law with professionals all around the world. She has practiced law for nearly 20 years in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the U.S.

Seagull served as a professor of law at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles and was also the Founding Director of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center. She has been a guest professor at Peking University Law School, the Intellectual Property Academy of Renmin University of China, and the Beijing Film Academy. She gained valuable experience as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel, Asia-Pacific Region at The Walt Disney Company and was also a partner at a leading Chinese law firm and a consultant at an international law firm.

Seagull earned acclaimed as "Asia Law Leading Lawyer" in the intellectual property field by Asia Law and Practice for five consecutive years and was selected as an "Asia 21 Young Leader" in 2007 by the nonprofit Asia Society.

A frequent commenter on intellectual property issues, Seagull penned Entertainment Law, the first leading treatise on the subject of entertainment law in China. She also wrote New Challenges of Chinese Copyright Law in the Digital Age: ISP Liability, Google Library Project and Sports Telecasts; the English-language publication New Challenges of Chinese Copyright Law in the Digital Age; and the English translation of Selected Chinese Patent Cases.

In addition, Seagull has given numerous presentations to China's Supreme People's Court, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the American Chamber of Commerce, the American Bar Association, the Motion Picture Association of America, the Law Society of Hong Kong, and well-known Chinese and international law schools on intellectual property and entertainment law issues.
