Nel-Sylvia Guzman has an established background of serving her community. As a member of the firm's Pro Bono group. she assists individual clients, charities, and nonprofit social enterprises in a broad range of legal matters.

Nel-Sylvia has substantial pro bono experience in criminal justice and post-conviction matters, including drafting habeas and clemency petitions for innocent clients, as well as clients on death row.

While in law school, Nel-Sylvia was a member of the University of Virginia Innocence Project Clinic and Virginia Innocence Project Pro Bono Clinic. She was also Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal and participated in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition for three years, securing a team spot as Mid-Atlantic Regional Finalist and competing on the national level.
