Rupert Goodway

As an associate in the London office, Rupert advises on a wide range of commercial disputes. He has handled a number of complex, high-value commercial disputes across a variety of sectors (including financial services, energy and natural resources, and infrastructure). His work has a particular emphasis on multi-jurisdictional litigation often with elements of insolvency or fraud.

In addition to commercial litigation, Rupert has advised clients in connection with internal bribery and corruption investigations. Rupert has a keen interest in the firm's pro bono practice and regularly appears for members of the Royal British Legion in front of the War Pensions Tribunal.

Representative experience

Advising a mining conglomerate in a US$335m breach of contract claim regarding a Brazilian iron ore mine. Included related committal and breach of confidence proceedings.

Acting for BTA Bank, a Kazakh bank, in its successful multi-billion dollar fraud claims against multiple defendants including its former chairman, Mukhtar Ablyazov.

Advising a data hosting company on a contractual interpretation dispute in the High Court.

Advising a bank on asset recovery strategies against a property developer who had defaulted on his loans.

Advising the management vendors on a series of breach of warranty claims brought under a share purchase agreement.
