Build a dynamic experience that proves valuable

Personal growth

Be ready to be challenged and to do good work for good people. You’ll work on the most complex legal issues, and you’ll find opportunities to step up and develop as a quality lawyer. My hope was that by joining a smaller office of a prominent firm, I would work on smaller teams and be given greater responsibility than might normally be expected for a junior or mid-level associate at a big firm. My experience in that respect has exceeded my expectations.

I joined Hogan Lovells in 2008 as an associate in the Litigation group. Since then, I’ve gotten the kind of active, out-front litigation experience that I expected from a small litigation boutique – but with the backing and resources of a global firm. Because of the firm's reputation, the subject matter is more complex than you would expect. I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed such a variety at another firm of a similar “boutique” size.

Professional expertise

My practice focuses on complex litigation, with an emphasis on representing clients in the health care industry. In addition to my work in pharmaceutical litigation, I have extensive experience in class action defense and representing insurers in director and officer insurance litigation. I’ve also represented clients in the telecommunications and financial industries, in all phases of complex commercial litigation.

The other Litigation partners in the Philadelphia office are terrific. They’ve become my mentors by making sure that I’m getting the right experience – experience that helps me develop as a litigator and as a lawyer.

Consistently high quality

I’m always impressed by the amount of resources Hogan Lovells dedicates to its Pro Bono practice group. Pro bono work has given me some extraordinary experiences, including an oral argument on a highly publicized case before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. I spend a significant portion of my time on pro bono matters, serving on the board of directors of my alma mater, the Church Farm School (a college preparatory boarding school that provides a financially accessible education for boys).

It’s been a pleasure to work with the people at this firm and the atmosphere is very friendly. My colleagues perform at a high level (often under pressure) while maintaining collegiality.
