Make a dynamic transition to the next level

Personal growth

Hogan Lovells has an excellent comprehensive transition program to assist lawyers who have been elevated to partner. Through this, I received top notch leadership and business development assistance from senior partners and outside experts. These programs also afforded me the opportunity to meet colleagues around the world who had also recently been promoted to partner.

I expected to be challenged and learn from some of the best in the field. I came here seeking environmental work. However, when I entered the associate rotation program, I found a home in the food and drug practice area. This experience has challenged me and has far exceeded my expectations. But for the firm’s rotation program, I would not be where I’m today.

A common mindset

I’ve been involved with teaching Law Day for students at the Thurgood Marshall Academy, a law-based charter school in Southeast Washington, D.C. Law Day is a series of interactive sessions that deal with civil, criminal, and other types of law practice. Seeing the students respond to the lessons and participate in mock trials is very rewarding. This program allows me to be a part of the community.

Professional expertise

I practice U.S. FDA law with a focus on medical device compliance. This has allowed me to work not only on regulatory issues, but also on white collar criminal matters and corporate transactional work. As a member of our Medical Device practice area, my focus is on post-market compliance issues, including the Food and Drug Administration’s Quality System Regulation, adverse event reporting, and field action requirements. I’m also a frequent speaker at medical device seminars and conferences.

I chose Hogan Lovells because of its dynamic practice breadth. The firm has a tremendous reputation for regulatory work, which is exactly what I was looking for. What’s more, it impressed me with the caliber of its people. Every individual is well rounded, personable, and the type of person anyone would want to work with.
