Deep relationships

It can be difficult to strike a balance between a professional and friendly atmosphere, but our office comes as close as possible to the perfect blend. It’s open and friendly, and people genuinely seem to enjoy each other’s company. I spend a lot of time with colleagues outside of work, and many of my best friends are either current colleagues or Hogan Lovells alumni. At the same time, we’re focused on doing great work for our clients.

I have collaborated a great deal with my counterparts in the Intellectual Property group in Europe, and I enjoy sharing ideas and seeing their perspectives. I don’t think there are many other firms where you can get this degree of collaboration with international colleagues.

Professional expertise

I’m a partner in our Northern Virginia office with a focus on intellectual property transactions. I advise clients on the acquisition, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property, and I negotiate agreements involving technology, ideas, brands, and others form of intellectual property. I have developed extensive experience working across a broad scope of industries, including life sciences, information technology, communications, sports, and media.

My practice requires me to be versatile and creative, as each transaction brings its own set of challenges. On any given day, I might advise on intellectual property issues that arise in connection with an M&A transaction, negotiate a service agreement for a telecommunications company, or structure a collaboration where two or more companies will work together to develop a new drug.

High-quality opportunities

I have been fortunate to have a number of co-workers who really invested in me as a junior lawyer, and who continue to support and mentor me as a partner. I started at the firm with the expectation of being a technology lawyer, focusing on serving clients in the Internet, software, and IT spaces. But as my interests and skills have evolved over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to focus my work on life sciences, which I truly find fascinating.

I was able to bring my family’s church in as a pro bono client. It’s always satisfying to work for a client that I care deeply about. And I appreciate the autonomy the firm offers lawyers to do the pro bono work that matters to them.
