Julia Gurieva

Senior Associate

I joined the Moscow office of Hogan Lovells in February 2013 as an associate in the IPMT practice. From my first day I worked on software and patent related matters which is my area of professional interest. One patent infringement project started two months after I joined Hogan Lovells and has grown into a huge pharmaceutical patent litigation which is still ongoing.

The first major case I worked on was a multi-jurisdictional joint venture project for a large Russian mining organization. It was a complex and extremely interesting project, which included cross-practice work as well as intensive cooperation with colleagues in other Hogan Lovells offices around the world. From my first day at the firm I felt part of an incredibly big team of professional and approachable colleagues.

During my time with Hogan Lovells there have been many opportunities for me to develop professionally in my original area of expertise and in the new areas of practice.  Over the last few years I have been part of the core team working on software copyright cases for Novomatic, including criminal prosecution.  I have also worked on complicated cross-border telecom and data projects, mass media restructuring projects and patent litigations. Developing patent prosecution services in our Moscow office has been extremely interesting and developmental for me. Aside from the big cases, I also work on day-to-day commercial IP issues, online infringements, pure e-commerce and personal data protection issues.

Hogan Lovells has been a good choice for me and I am happy to be part of a fantastic team. I work with great colleagues who are always ready to help and guide me through new projects, and who have become friends.  I also feel privileged to work with some excellent clients.
