Matthew Giles is a senior knowledge lawyer in the Antitrust, Competition and Economic Regulation (ACER) practice in London – working with ACER's London and Brussels-based lawyers (and their clients) to help meet their training and knowledge management needs.
Having previously worked in the firm's Brussels and London offices (the latter as a senior associate), Matthew has detailed competition and regulatory law experience, advising on behavioural and transactional matters in a variety of sectors. Matthew has counselled clients on compliance with the competition rules in respect of a wide range of commercial arrangements and has represented major international companies in relation to investigations before the European Commission.
He has also advised extensively on the EU and UK competition law aspects of international mergers – including filings before the European Commission and the UK competition authorities. Having recently returned to Hogan Lovells, Matthew has also worked in a number of other organisations including as a senior legal adviser in the regulatory team of a prominent UK media/telecommunications company.
