Ghassan Sader focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, debt and equity capital markets, group restructurings, due diligence investigations, and general corporate and commercial work.

Having acted for various national and international clients in both the public and private sectors in transactions in South Africa and the rest of the African continent, Ghassan's experience covers the agricultural, telecommunications, mining, security, and hospitality industries. 

He received the African Legal Awards 2015 Assistant/Associate Solicitor of the Year award.

Representative experience

Advising a large German listed corporate on its first investment into South Africa, establishing a JV, preceded by restructuring and transfer of some divisions.

Advising a black economic empowerment company in its acquisition of shares in a large tourism company through a complex joint venture structure, valued at ZAR800m.

Advising South Africa's largest cement manufacturer in its acquisition of shares and establishment of a cement plant in the DRC and Algeria, each approximately US$300m.

Advising one of the world's largest yeast manufacturers in the acquisition of a majority stake in a yeast manufacturing plant in Zimbabwe.

Advising one of the world's largest hotel operators in the disposal of four of its South African hotels, including negotiation of each hotel’s management agreements.

Advising a large fortune 500 company in its acquisition of a majority stake in a leading SA agri-chemical company, a complex restructuring and due diligence.

Advising a large listed telecommunication company in its group restructuring worth in excess of ZAR3bn.

Part of the team representing Telkom SA SOC Limited in the disposal of its various African subsidiaries.
