Tanner Frei helps corporations, financial institutions, and investment entities borrow and lend money. He advises on complex debt financing transactions with a special emphasis on acquisition financings for private equity funds and their portfolio companies.

Tanner partners with his clients to navigate a variety of secured and unsecured finance transactions, including asset-based and cash flow deals. He is also well-versed in commercial real estate finance matters.

Before joining Hogan Lovells, Tanner was a banking and finance associate at a national firm. In this role, he drafted, reviewed, and negotiated loan documentation; coordinated loan closings; and performed due diligence, including review and negotiation of surveys and title policies, entity organizational documents, purchase and sales agreements, letters of credit, and tenant leases. He also gained legal experience as a judicial extern for the Hon. Scott M. Matheson, Jr. of the 10th Circuit. While in law school, Tanner honed his writing skills as a managing editor of the UCLA Law Review.

Advised national bank acting as administrative agent with respect to letter of credit provisions in credit agreement for US$860m secured credit facility.*

Drafted and reviewed loan modification documents for US$95m increase to loan from national bank secured by nationwide portfolio of self-storage facilities.*

Advised national bank in connection with US$59m syndicated loan for construction of a hotel and golf course straddling California and Nevada state line.*
