William (Will) D. Fiers, Ph.D. takes advantage of his technical background in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and immunology to articulate client innovations and translate them into valuable intellectual property assets.

Will supports clients developing treatments for a range of diseases and disorders including neuropathies, infectious diseases, and cancer. Will develops a patent strategy tailored for the client's needs and lifestage- including drafting patent applications, prosecution of applications in the U.S. and abroad, conducting research for IP due diligence projects, and managing the most important assets within the client's portfolio. Will's clients range from small start-up companies to Fortune 100 companies, developing a wide range of technologies including small-molecule therapeutics, biologics, pharmaceutical formulations, medical devices, polymers, food science, machine learning, and analytical devices.

Will obtained his Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the University of Minnesota. His doctoral studies included synthesis and characterization of the conversion of polyketide chain intermediates to anticancer and antibacterial natural products by polyketide synthases. Will conducted postdoctoral work as an NIH postdoctoral fellow at Weill Cornell Medicine, studying the production of antifungal metabolites by the gut microbiota and their impact on Th17 immune polarization by opportunistic fungal species, such as Candida albicans.
