Working within trade associations – A practical workshop on how to avoid competition law pitfalls

15 September 2016

Trade associations play a pivotal role in benchmarking companies' performance, setting industry standards and orchestrating business perspectives vis-à-vis political decision-makers. With the recent vote of the UK to leave the European Union ('Brexit') the political role of trade associations in Brussels will become even more important.

At the same time, authorities around the world take an aggressive approach to the enforcement of competition law against trade associations and their members. In this environment, it is essential that trade associations and their members take an active role in making sure that they comply with competition law. The consequences of infringing competition law can be severe for both the association and its members.

This workshop is designed for anyone who runs or works in a trade association or participates in trade association meetings as a company's delegate. Using mini-theatre and interactive discussion, it provides practical guidance on how best to ensure that you fully comply with competition law.
