At the end of June, the Hong Kong Court of Appeal handed down a landmark judgment, redefining the general understanding of who constitutes a "client" for the purpose of legal advice privilege.
This is the latest in a line of recent Hong Kong judgments emphasising the primacy of legal professional privilege as an absolute right guaranteed by Article 35 of the Basic Law of Hong Kong.
