Outsourcing, Technology Procurement and Cloud in Asia: Legal and Commercial Perspectives

06 October 2015 Hong Kong

As businesses in Asia grow in scale and complexity and face increasing cost pressures, they are turning to outsourcing and large scale technology procurement, including the deployment of cloud technologies, to support their operations and gain competitive advantage.

These initiatives reflect both a maturing of operational strategies for businesses in the region and increasing cost sensitivity: factors giving businesses more incentive to consolidate operating platforms to achieve greater efficiencies and economies of scale and use outsourced service models to support scaling up in new markets.

Projects of this nature are complex and require adequate preparation.  For in-house lawyers, the principle tasks are in ensuring that regulatory constraints are addressed and a good contract is put in place.  But the success of these projects also depends on awareness of business objectives and market trends.

Our Outsourcing, Technology Procurement and Cloud seminar will be jointly delivered by Hogan Lovells and ISG, the leading technology insights, market intelligence and advisory services company.

Hogan Lovells partner Mark Parsons and senior associate Hoi Tak Leung will focus on the key issues that in-house lawyers should be prepared for in dealing with outsourcing and procurement projects, from regulatory feasibility studies through to legal aspects of tendering processes and then on to drafting and negotiating key contractual issues.

ISG director Andrew Walker will introduce a commercial perspective based on ISG’s deep understanding of the Asia market, new operating models that are being deployed and new ways to contract.
