Oil Price Volatility: Can Washington Help?

26 March 2015 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM (CST)
Houston, United States

The global energy industry is currently dominated by the sudden and dramatic decline in crude oil prices. Within the United States, Congress and energy regulators are among those reacting to the recent challenges and opportunities that have arisen from oil price volatility.

This event, co-sponsored by Hogan Lovells and KPMG, brings to bear the seasoned perspectives of both Washington and industry insiders. Hogan Lovells’ Counsel Seth Belzley, former Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at TransMontaigne Inc., and Ginger Menown, partner at KPMG, will discuss the impacts of oil price volatility on the oil and gas industry.

Mary Anne Sullivan, Aaron Cutler, and Kyle Simpson leverage their extensive experience in the Executive Branch and on Capitol Hill to shed light on Washington, D.C.’s policy responses and whether those responses can be a meaningful part of the global response.

Our planned agenda includes:

  • How the recent and precipitous decline in oil prices requires re-evaluation of industry business models
  • Discussion of recent regulatory and policy decisions and their impacts on the market
