Michael Thomas speaks at inaugural AIFC Law Conference

Michael focused on the General Legal Framework of the AIFC and how it was developed, based on recommendations set out in a report that Hogan Lovells produced last year for the organisation. He also provided an overview of the regulations covered by the General Legal Framework and why such regulations are necessary for the functioning of a commercial legal system which is intended to support the financial operations of the centre. The is a project initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan that envisions creation of a regional financial hub for Central Asia, the Caucasus, EAEU, the Middle East, West China, Mongolia and Europe and aims to become an important financial platform, interacting with major regional and international financial centres.
