Insurer restructuring, run – off and resolution: the view from both sides of the Pond

The past decade has seen far reaching changes in the occurrence, management and restructuring of liabilities in the life and non-life insurance sectors. Last week, thought leaders from Hogan Lovells New York and London discussed the challenges and opportunities these create on both sides of the Atlantic.

Hogan Lovells Head of Financial Institutions sector Sharon Lewis opened up the seminar and was followed by guest speaker Nigel Rackham from PwC, who explored the theme of "Two systems, separated by a common language." Hogan Lovells Partner Peter Ivanick discussed the changes in and opportunities arising from the rehabilitation and reorganisation of insurers in the U.S since the Global Financial Crisis. Partner Joe Bannister and Senior Associate Jonathan Russell closed the seminar exploring UK Solvent schemes and life insurer liabilities. And of course, the seminar also included a discussion on the Brexit conundrum.

The slides from the session can be found here. If you have any questions about the topics raised please do not hesitate to get in touch with one of the speakers or your usual Hogan Lovells contact.
