Convergence in Global Privacy Standards

01 December 20113:30 PM (DST) London

While differences in data protection frameworks in different jurisdictions are frequently emphasised, it is important to take stock of the growing convergence in global privacy standards and the common practices that make cross-border data sharing and use safe, legal and practical.  At the Data Protection Authority conference in Mexico this year there was a focus on global standards, and the OECD is focusing on convergence, so this subject is very timely.

This session will feature Hogan Lovells privacy practitioners from the US, UK, France, Italy and Germany as well as the Director of Data Privacy at Accenture, Bojana Bellamy, who also serves as Chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

For organizations operating in multiple jurisdictions, this programme will examine practical ways to reconcile and harmonise the various privacy and security requirements across the globe into a cohesive set of data management standards for international use.
